Busia: President William Ruto Commissions Electricity Project Worth KSh 54.99M In Nambale

During his fourth day of Western development tour in Nambale Busia County, President William Ruto kick-started electricity.

More than 292 households are set to be benefit from the connection process, a project under the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) costing 54.99 million.

According to Ruto, this is part of their wider programme that will connect over 20,000 households in the country to power at a cost of KSh 1 billion.

“We are committed to ensuring that every Kenyan, in every corner of the country, has access to stable, reliable and affordable power,” he said.

Jackson Osenorasio, one of the beneficiaries of the project could not hide his joy as their home was connected to the grid.

In attendance were Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi; Speaker Moses Wetangula; CS for Cooperatives and MSMEs Wycliffe Oparanya; CS for Energy & petroleum Opiyo Wandayi; Busia county Governor, Dr. Paul Otuoma; Nambale MP, Geoffrey Ekesa; PSs, Busia County MPs and MCAs.

Kenyans reactions took an unexpected turn of events. With some stating he using the projects to lure Western region into his basket in 2027.

“The way it’s laid out you’d think he is doing us a favor, it’s a long overdue project that he is using to get potential fanatics out of us. It won’t work.” Moryogathee commented.

Kamundia also joining the likes of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who slammed the president for starting early campaigns.

“stop campaigning, we are not re-electing you again for your information.” Kamundia added.

The president launched and commissioned a series of projects in the county, and is expected in Bumula on Friday, before leaving for Bungoma.

Alongside this project, the Ruto also laid out a blueprint of the oncoming projects for Nambale including, tarmacking Nambale junction- Busibwabo-Mundika road; tarmack Butula- Nambale- Amukura road.

Additionally the revival of defunctional Nambale Ginery to help farmers improve income; Construction of modern market Nambale town and Mungatsi; Completion of tarmacking of Bungoma-Buyofu-Mungatsi road; Improving National polytechnics; Installation of street light at Nambale center to boost security and Tarmacking of Mungatsi-Kimaetsi road.

He also presided over the groundbreaking of the Alupe Dam Water Supply Project in Teso constituency.
