Former Busia deputy governor Moses Okhoba Mulomi was pronounced dead on Tuesday, January 28, after collapsing on his way to Nairobi for a board meeting.
According to the family the late Mulomi was traveling to Nairobi, when tragedy befell him. Mulomi’s condition is reported to have deteriorated after reaching Nakuru, where he sadly succumbed to an ailment yet to be confirmed.
Mulomi worked for Magombe Irrigation scheme in Bunyala as Senior Manager for several years, before seeking greener pastures in Zambia, where he was employed as Director International Red Locust Control Organisation for Central and Southern Africa. Until his death, he was a Director at Kenya Cultural Centre Board.
In his condolence message, former Busia Governor H.E Sospeter Ojaamong described Mulomi as a great leader who devoted his life to the service of humanity.
“His outstanding service and performance as my Deputy Governor and County Executive Committee Member for Healthcare services will remain a source of inspiration and motivation to many aspiring leaders,” he said.
Ojaamong added that Mulomi was generous, cheerful, and friendly to everyone who knew and had an opportunity to interact with him, he was a person of influence and outstanding ability. His wise counsel and guidance will, indeed, be missed by many.
“We thank God for the years we shared with him. I convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives, and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you, ” he said.
After serving for five years as Ojaamong’ s deputy, he was among five aspirants for 2022 gubernatorial contest, which was won by H.E Dr Paul Otuoma on an ODM ticket with Arthur Odera as his running mate.
His party leader Eugene Wamalwa also mourning Mulomi as a resourceful person, and their unfulfilled plans they had this year. He also stated they had an interaction two months ago in Busia, where their meeting impacted positively to the political development of residents.
“I interacted with him two months ago during our grassroot engagements in Busia and we shared a lot that wee had planned this year. His loss has robbed the family, Bamarachi, the people of Busia and Kenya, a resourceful person who touched many lives and left a mark in development, politics and the devolution space,” Wamalwa mourned.
Other political elites who have mourned the late Mulomi include Busia senator Okiya Omutata, who said his leadership to the people of Busia will be remembered.
Quite an untimely death. May His Soul Rest in Eternal peace.
