Displaying unity and resourcefulness, the well organized, ambitious youth held a highly successful holiday football tournament, marking a historic moment for the locality, showcasing the power of community collaboration and determination.
The particular tournament brought together teams from across the ward, culminating in a thrilling final on January 1, 2025, at the Bukembe Boys High School grounds.
Thousands of enthusiastic spectators gathered to cheer for their teams, creating an electrifying atmosphere that underscored the significance of sports in fostering community spirit.
Unlike previous events in the area, the youth took the initiative to mobilize funds among themselves to bring this tournament to life. Their efforts paid off as the competition attracted widespread participation, with teams from different corners of Bukembe East Ward showcasing their skills.

Village Admins head Webster Wechuli also commended the youth for the remarkable tournament.
“The youth have demonstrated that with determination and collaboration, they can overcome obstacles and create impactful initiatives that uplift their community,” he said.
In his closing remarks, Bukembe Boys High School Principal Felix Juma was impressed and even challenged by the initiative that many have failed to do.
“It is not easy for young people to come up with such an idea and follow it to the conclusion, many people even of my age have failed to achieve this milestone,” he added.
Meanwhile, the same group of youth promised to bounce back with another mouthwatering tournament, big and better in the coming holiday seasons.
