BREAKING NEWS: Senior IEBC Official Found Dead in Mombasa

A senior Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official has been found murdered in Mombasa, as according to the police.

The 48-year-old Aisha Akinyi Abubakar who is a senior IEBC official is reported to have died from attacks by robbers who broke in to her house at Utange in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The robbers who also left his 18-year-old son Khasim Hassan with injuries, broke into her house through a kitchen window and accessed her house, where they attacked them with crude weapons.

“They gained access to the house by cutting the grills of the kitchen window while armed with a crowbar and knife,” read the police report in part.

Aisha was pronounced dead on arrival at Premier Hospital where his son Khasim managed to drive her to seek medical attention.

The robbers who were in masks went ahead and stole Aisha’s mobile phone a Samsung a15, a 65-inch Samsung TV, a sound system, an iPad, and a Samsung a21 before escaping the scene.

The police confirmed that Khasim was treated and is in stable condition and yet to be discharged.

Police have, however, launched investigations into the incident to apprehend the suspects.
