”We have employed additional officers to the Kenya Defence Forces and even for that of police officers that had delays, we will be recruiting about 5,000 police officers in March,” Kindiki confirmed, adding that, ”We are trying to create more job opportunities in the public sector and the informal sectors.”

The DP also reiterated that soon the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Interior will be announced, following his exit from the docket, that is currently held by the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi in an acting capacity.

“We are praying for a new Interior CS who will soon be announced and we will work with him/her closely to build on the strides we made earlier,” the DP revealed.

This will be a sigh of relief to Kenyans who have, for so long waited for the announcement of this recruitment date. The last recruitment of police officers was conducted in March 2022, about two years down the line.

There was no recruitment of NPS officers in 2023, following its postponement due to financial issues. Only KDF conducted its recruitment on 2023, which started from August 28 and ended on September 9.
