Inspired by the words of historical theologian Saint Augustine—“To fall in love with God is the greatest romance, to seek Him, the greatest adventure, and to find Him, the greatest human achievement”—gospel singer Kevin Ager reflects on his salvation journey. His experience aligns with the wisdom of Apostle Paul’s letter to the Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 12:

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

Although Kevin grew up deeply involved in church and was a God-fearing young man, it wasn’t until 2012 that he made a personal decision to accept Christ into his life. Reflecting on this transformative moment, he relates it to Hebrews 4:12:

“For a long time, I had been attending church. I was God-fearing, but as time passed, I gained new revelations about salvation. Upon careful reflection of my walk with Christ, my eyes were opened, and I accepted Christ in 2012.”

Kevin emphasizes that many churchgoers may not fully understand the Word of God and the intricacies of salvation. He prays for enlightenment so that they may walk a worthy path with God.

Kevin discovered his gift for singing early on and joined the church choir in 2012 to nurture this talent. Despite facing financial challenges, he began composing songs during his high school years, nearly giving up due to lack of funds.

Born fourth in a family of seven, Kevin learned patience and dedication, which proved invaluable during his over-decade-long journey to record his first album.

After three years of training at the National Youth Service (NYS), Kevin was absorbed into the police service. He is now serving as an Administration Police (AP) officer in Gilgil, Nakuru County, where his demanding role often keeps him on assignments across the country. Ager balances his music career with his duties as an officer, emphasizing the importance of patience and discipline in both areas of his life.

In April 2024, Kevin marked a significant milestone when he entered the studio to record his debut album titled Utawala, featuring six tracks.

Kevin acknowledges that financial constraints are a primary challenge in recording albums, especially when waiting for returns on investment. He supplements his income through other means, continuing to prioritize his passion for music and faith.

Eager to collaborate with fellow gospel artists, the singer remains committed to spreading the message of the gospel. His passion for both his calling as an officer and his ministry through music keeps him focused on his purpose.

The singer cop is working on a number of projects which he intends to record early next year with a vision of collaborating with other established gospel artists in the country.

“Expect a lot from January next year, ” the officer said as he concluded his interview with this publisher, adding that he is currently in talks with a few established artists in the gospel industry for a collabo any time next year.
