Ken Kenyatta, former Kakamega Homeboyz head coach has declared himself fit to lead the country’s men football team Harambee Stars.

“I am very ready to coach Harambee Stars. My records, both as a player and a coach, speak for themselves. I have the papers and have gathered sufficient coaching experience to take the team to the next level,” Kenyatta stated

Kenyatta a legendary Kenyan player has had a successful football career since early 1990s to 1997, with excellent coahing skills including Talanta FC and Ushuru FC.

According to him, if given a chance to coach the national team, he is hopeful of making history in 2026, leading Harambee Stars to qualify to the 20226 World Cup.

He said on Saturday, December 14, Kenyatta said, the national team has the potential to qualify for the World Cup, with proper preparations, as the team already has qualified and promising players, with recently included junior team.

“We still have a chance to qualify for the World Cup. With good preparations, we can make history next year,” Kenyatta confidently said.

If Kenyatta takes the mantle, he will be replacing Engin Firat, who led the national team for three years, and coached 21 games under his regime.

FKF president Hussein Mohamed declared the position vacant, and added that the next coach will be based on merit, whether it is a foreigner or a local.

However, Kenyans have been calling for a local coach like the Senegal National team, who won the African championship AFCON in 2022.
