In a positive development for the residents of Tamu-Chemelil Ward, George Mbuta, the Kisumu branch chairman of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), alongside his team, has launched several essential community development projects to tackle pressing local issues. During his recent visit, Mbuta highlighted this as the final ward in a series of initiatives across Kisumu’s 35 wards.
“Last time we were here, we observed significant challenges—such as access to clean water, lack of shelter for bodaboda operators, poor lighting at the market, and deteriorating roads. In response, we’re implementing solutions, including bodaboda shades, solar lighting, and a borehole for clean drinking water,” Mbuta said, confirming that his contractor’s site assessment confirmed potential for a sustainable water source.
Reflecting on the area’s history, Mbuta recalled how the community was originally from Kabonyo Kanyagwal and had been relocated due to flooding in the 1960s. He expressed concern over the lack of infrastructure improvements since then, noting that essential developments in roads, water supply, and markets are crucial for economic growth.
Addressing recent political discussions, Mbuta criticized proposals to amend the presidential term limit, suggesting that it was an internal move to unsettle government leadership. He indicated that the idea was linked to interests of the former deputy president and reiterated the ruling party’s firm rejection of it.
Nominated MCA Regina Kizito also addressed efforts in collaboration with the county government to support local youth and women through access to trade funds.

She emphasized policies aimed at empowering women and expressed her commitment to initiatives that foster community growth.
“In the assembly, we’re working with the county government to secure trade funds for women. Teaming up with Mbuta and county officials, we’re committed to driving policies that help women thrive,” she stated.
Residents of Tamu-Chemelil Ward have expressed their gratitude for these projects, appreciating Mbuta’s efforts in addressing needs that had previously been overlooked by local leaders.
