United Democratic Alliance party has clarified news going round the media about removing Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as the Deputy Party Leader, following a merger with Amani National Congress (ANC) party founded by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
Earlier on, the party announced former ANC Party Leader Issa Timamy as its Deputy Party Leader whereas former ANC Secretary General and Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba to deputise Senator Hassan Omar as the Secretary General.
“UDA National Executive Committee (NEC) named Issa Timamy, as its Deputy Party Leader, while Hon. Omboko Milemba will now deputise Sen. Hassan Omar as Secretary General,” confirmed UDA.
The announcements made by the party Chairperson Cecily Mbarire also affirmed that Mr. Kevin Lunani who was ANC chairperson, will now be UDA’s Vice Chairperson.
However, these changes were not taken lightly as the media claimed that Prof. Kithure Kindiki has been dropped by UDA from his Deputy Party leader role and the position assigned to Issa Timamy.
In a statement, the party has confirmed that Kithure Kindiki will be the 1st Deputy Party Leader while Issa Timamy will be the 2nd Deputy Party Leader, while condemning the rise of misinformation with an aim of disrupting the government’s agenda in uniting the country and compromising pursuit of inclusivity.
“The UDA Party wishes to express its concern over the unprecedented rise in fake news including those from some mainstream media houses in a deliberate and well orchestrated scheme of misinformation intended to detract well-meaning citizens of our nation in the various sectors and formations of government and society,” read the statement in part.
“The alarmists are determined to ensure our various programmes aimed at uniting Kenyans and pursuing our inclusive agenda is disrupted and scuttled,” continued the statement.
The party further urged Kenyans that in such circumstances of misinformation, they should decipher truth from falsity as the Government continues to implement robust development plan through Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
