Busia Senator, Hon. Okiya Omtatah has announced his ambition to vie for the Presidency come 2027.
In a notice announcing his committee to assist in his bid, the Senator said that the call to serve the nation is pressing and after careful consultations and consideration, he has enlisted the people who will see him sail through this journey ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
“We are at a pivotal moment in our nation’s history, and the call to serve has never been more urgent. After careful consideration and consultations with trusted advisors, community leaders, and citizens from all walks of life, I am pleased to announce the formation of a Presidential Exploratory Committee,” said Omtatah.
According to the Kenya Gazette as shared by the Senator, the Committee will be chaired by Mary Kathomi Riungu, who will coordinate and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
Omtatah chose Charles ole Kabaiku as the Deputy chair, who will assist in coordinating the committee and diaspora affairs while digital strategist Hanifa Adan will handle the Public Relations docket.
The Senator named David John Bwakali the Political and Grassroot Strategist whose responsibility will be to provide insights into political trends, electoral dynamics and strategic opportunities.
On the list was Victor Kipng’etich who will act as the legal advisor to ensure compliance with the law and advise on legal issues.
Okiya Omtatah also selected Jude Ogolla as the analytics lead whose duties will be to conduct opinion polls and data analysis on political viability and public sentiment.
Purity Ndambuki and Emmanuel Baraka will play the role of the joint secretaries to support and ensure smooth functioning of the Committee as Kevin Migwe Kimwatu will be the Committee’s spokesperson.
Additionally, Engineer Julius Okara will act as the Committee’s patron to guide the committee.
According to Omtatah, the committe will focus on engaging the public and assess his viability of his candidacy ahead of the elections.
“This committee will thoroughly assess the viability of my candidacy for the 2027 presidential election. Its primary focus will be to engage with the public, gather input on the most pressing challenges facing our nation, and determine how best to address these issues with bold and innovative leadership,” noted the Senator.
He, however, affirmed that he needs to prepare thoroughly in order to vie for the top most seat, that is currently held by President William Ruto on his first term. He said that he is committed to ensure Kenyans’ needs and priorities are put into consideration and he went further appreciating Kenyans for standing strongly with him. He appended that in unity, Kenya’s luminous future can be achieved.
“The road ahead requires thoughtful preparation, and this exploratory phase is a crucial step in ensuring that our vision for the future aligns with the hopes and aspirations of Kenyans. I am committed to listening, learning, and building a platform that reflects the values and priorities of our citizens,” he asserted, adding that, “Together, we can shape a brighter future.
