Nyandarua Senator John Methu has demanded President William Ruto to immediately resign, citing continued breach of the Constitution, following upsurge in abduction cases in the country.
In a letter to the press, the Senator accuses the president of being involved in abductions of Kenyan youths, who criticize his government. This is after Cabinet Secretary for Public Service Justin Muturi exposed the National Intelligence Service (NIS) over its involvement in abducting his son Leslie Muturi and was only released after Ruto made a call to NIS.
“While we congratulate Hon. Justin Muturi for his bravery in discharge for his solemn and patriotic duty, it is not lost that the disclosure puts the ball of abduction and the attendant ignominy squarely on the court of President William Ruto,” Methu said in a letter.
The Senator also disclosed that it is evident that Ruto has an abduction squad, that is not confined by the Constitution and parameters of law enforcement since the former Interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Interior PS Raymond Omollo and ATPU director were clueless about the abduction of Muturi’s son.
Methu now demands that Ruto resigns from office, since he has lost moral authority and character which has inturn compromised his presidential stature.
“President William Ruto has lost the moral authority and character, has shaken our very Christian foundations, has lost the Presidential stature and allure and has also failed the leadership and integrity test for his continued breach of Constitution and must therefore resign from office,” declared the Senator.
Abduction claims have attracted massive outrage from Kenyans, after the police admitted that they do not abduct them.
Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka two days ago, demanded Ruto to resign, owing to the fact that he has failed to uphold the Constitutional rights and freedom of Kenyans.
“We demand that Ruto respect Kenyans, the oath of office he swore he preserve, and the 2010 Constitution. If he [Ruto] refuses to respect and enforce the Constitution and the laws, he should resign,” he said during a presser at SKM command centre on Wednesday.
