Parents, Students Left in Limbo Following KNEC Results Portal Crash

Following the release of 2024 KCSE results, Kenyans have stormed the X platform to express their frustrations after failing to access the results.

According to KNEC, candidates and parents were to visit the official KNEC results portal (http://www.results.knec.ac.ke ), input their 11-digit index number and registered names and submit the information to view their results.

Before last year, candidates accessed their results through SMS by sending their index numbers to a short code provided by KNEC. In a similar case in 2023, Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates were unable to access their results after the SMS service collapsed.

However following a couple of efforts, they have been rendered helpless after the platform broke down following high numbers of attempted access. The Nyanza Review has been in touch with a few parents and netizens too who have expressed their exasperation.

Cremensia Kerubo has told this publication that she has poured countless hours into the wait for KCSE results amidst the site breakdown. She also noted that it is getting expensive waiting in the cyber since other parents do not own smartphones.

” The government does not care for those who don’t have smartphones, we have been in a cyber for long, spending money but no results,” Cremensia Kerubo said.

Mr. Richard Miyogo confessed that  he’s been furious with his son, convinced that the boy is concealing secrets and spinning lies.

“My son told me, he can’t access the results, I have been so mad at him only to realize he was saying the truth. I wonder what way forward, ” he asserted.

While also interacting with X users, Ja Migori prefers that KNEC should have left the submission of results to  Safaricom and Airtel as previously done.

“Education cabinet secretary Julius Migos Ogamba your website is not working, mngeachia Safaricom na Airtel to give us the 2024 results,” Ja Migori expressed.

Kawangware Finest also expressed  dissatisfaction that parents and students go through in order to access their results.

“Chaos as the KNEC portal crashes after Education CS Julius Ogamba announced the release of KCSE 2024 results. Parents and students struggle to access the portal prompting frustration online,” he said.

However Kenyans have gone further to leave comments of disenchantment towards KNEC.

Kabansora said, “KNEC website collapses every year since 2022 and yet billions of shillings were paid for the host of the website. Students cannot access their KCSE 2024 results. It is high time President William Ruto gets his Govt in order. Sack Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba.”

Lucy Njoki said, “Hii ndo kupeleka Kenya mbele ama mkae na results hiyo time yote alafu system haifanyi…ata we suspect those results.”

Harrison Njoroge ,”Frustrated! Yaani hata vitu vidogo hawawezi fanya successfully? ”

Rees Magomere, “This is a joke. Why didn’t they have the two solutions run in parallel. You cant do a direct switchover to a solution that you have not tested.”
