Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang Nyong’o has aulogised the then Kisumu Town West MP Hon.Ken Nyagudi who passed away Sunday evening March 23,2025 ,as a visionary and thoughtful leader.
“Hon. Nyagudi who passed away on Sunday at Kenyatta National Hospital, will be remembered as one of the few youthful leaders who boldly ventured into competitive politics in Kenya. His victory in the 2004 Kisumu Town West by-election, following the demise of the late Hon. Job Omino, was a testament to his determination and leadership,” Nyong’o said.
The Kisumu Governor remembered Nyagudi as a visionary and thoughtful leader, dedicated to the well-being of the people of Kisumu Town West during his tenure.
Former Kisumu West Member of Parliament Kenn Nyagudi had been battling a long illness which led to his demise yesterday.
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula confirmed the demise on his official X account on Sunday, March 24 stating that Nyagudi died while undergoing treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing.
The MP served for four years until he lost the seat during the 2007 election to Olago Aluoch and five years later , he contested and lost to Ken Obura.
Ken Nyagudi was featured in the luo legendary Onyi Papa Jay’s 2007 song as the “GOALKEEPER Ken Nyagudi” as a song that praised the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) team who were against the Party of National Unity (PNU) which was former President the late Mwai Kibaki.
