Hon. James Onyango Koyoo, Muhoroni Member of Parliament, on Thursday February 13, 2025 defended his inability to show up in person for Raila Odinga’s support citing those flights to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia were full, which has hindered him from attending the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship election.

In his defense, the Muhoroni MP further warned against rumours of over 100 MPs travelling to Addis Ababa that has been circulating on social media that the said MPs used public funds to facilitate their travel, insisting that they used their own money and the issue should not be debated upon.

“I am unhappy because I have tried my best and my means to go to Addis Ababa but I have missed the flight. If I had booked it earlier, I would have been there. Now the flights are full and I have not been able to get it at all,” said Mr Koyoo.

However, the third time Orange Democratic Movement Member of parliament said he was confident that Mr Odinga would defeat his two rivals in the AUC chairmanship election on this Saturday February 15, 2025.

He was speaking in Langáta after visiting the family of late broadcaster Leonard Mambo Mbotela.

“Even though I regret missing the flight, one thing I can assure you is that Raila will win the AUC vote and there will be a big celebration in Kenya,” he affirmed.

Mr. Koyoo called out Kenyans on social media for being unpatriotic by not supporting Odinga’s AUC bid, wondering why Kenyans are getting unnecessarily angered by the issue of government expenditure.

“This issue of expenses is unnecessarily angering Kenyans because those who were paid by the government are Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah and Nyando MP Jared Okello who will be overseeing the counting of votes on Raila’s side,” he said frustrated.
