Mathira MP, Hon. Eric Wamumbi has exposed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his involvement in illicit brews business, following Gachagua’s claims that President William Ruto is  promoting the resurgence of illicit brews in Mt. Kenya region as a deliberate move to reduce  their voter numbers. Gachagua spoke in Naivasha.

“Since I was removed from office, all the bad alcohol has been reintroduced to the mountain to destroy our people and reduce voter numbers,” he said. “Chiefs have been told to look the other way, and the youth are being targeted,” the former DP claimed.

However, the area MP, where Gachagua hails from, has come out with his tongue wagging, while making things straight. Wamumbi has exposed that Gachagua has 4 outlets that sell alcohol, that is, Outspan Hotel and Bar, Tree Top Hotel and Bar, Olive gardens and Vipigo Ridge Hotel and Bar.

The lawmaker also went ahead unearthing Gachagua’s sister he identified as Nyangari who sells illicit brew in Kieni, while blasting the leader for attacking President William Ruto over baseless accusations.

“His blood elder sister by the name Nyangari, who is settled in Kieni Constituency, Nyange village, in Karicheni sells chang’aa at her home from morning to late night,” he revealed, adding, “Governor mutahi Kahiga knows her home, they are neighbours in the village.”

While defending Ruto, the lawmaker corroborated that all bars in Nyeri are licenced, and if there is any that is not, he asked Nyeri Governor, Mutahi Kahiga to close them.

“All bars in Nyeri county are licensed by Governor Mutahi Kahiga and if any of them is selling illicit brews, Mutahi Kahiga should close those bars tomorrow morning before posting selfies,” he affirmed.

Wamumbi has appealed to the former DP to lead by example by closing all places of selling illicit brews, before making lies to the general public in churches.

He also slammed Gachagua for having deterred development of a 45 km road in Mathira, making the project to stall for years during his time. According to the MP, it took Ruto only two years to complete the said road.

“A 45 KM road in his village, that passes through his gate in Mathira Constituency stalled during his term as MP from kwa Wambui- Iruri- Mukaburo then Iruri – kwa Wakamani and Marwa- Ngaini- Chieni- Tip Top – State Lodge- Hiriga- Kwa Governor- Ngarango-Kiamariga,” revealed the MP, adding that, “Under President Ruto’s government, in only 2 years , that road is now complete.”
