Months after Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna said President William Ruto will not secure a second term, even if backed up by Raila Odinga, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, has further added that Ruto will not win even if he is supported by former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua.
According to him, the current regime has failed Kenyans, as many things in the country seem to be headed in the wrong direction, as nothing is ‘working’ in the country, and will have no legacy unlike his predecessors.
“There is something terribly wrong with the government. We have many presidents since independence, I think Ruto’s government has stood out as the worst we’ve had since independence. That will go down in history. Nothing seems to be working, there is no even legacy attached to this regime, there is nothing to write home about,” Amisi stated.
He further accused the regime of jeopardizing the country’s international relations, which he said was reflected in February during the search of African Union Chairperson, a clear indicator that the country’s diplomatic ties is wanting.
“The blunders locally and internationally, at the international scene Kenya no longer has a name anymore we have spoilt our diplomatic standing that has been there for the last 60 years. You could see in the the African Union, which resembles our standings in the international space. Locally its lies,” he added.
Amisi further argued that the National Assembly cannot oversee the Executives, as the majority members frustrate the course of oversight, as they are from the ruling party, failing to take an independent decision, leading to the big share of Kenyans suffering.
“Parliament cannot oversee the executive as it were by the principle of parliamentary constitutional democracy, we don not stand on our oversight role, because it is made up predominantly of members of the ruling party who are not independent in their decision making, they are controlled. Parliament cannot help Kenyans,”
Amisi further disclosed that he had made his stand clear to his party leader, a decision that saw him lose chairmanship of the prestigious Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC), over his continuous criticism of the government, despite the MOU between his party and the ruling party to work together.
The lawmaker has not failed to call out the failures of the Ruto led government, including police killings and failed government systems.
