Kisumu County through Governor Anyang Nyong’o has today February 8th,2025 during the closing of the three-day Nyanza International Investment Conference held at Ciala Resort, Kisumu reaffirmed the county’s commitment to creating a conducive investment climate and transforming opportunities into tangible development for its residents.
The three-day conference which started on the 6th of February 2025 themed Nyanza Rising was aimed towards economic transformation for socio-economic growth and development ended today.
The event brought together government officials, investors, and industry leaders, highlighted key sectors such as agribusiness, the blue economy, manufacturing, and ICT as critical drivers of Nyanza’s economic transformation.
The conference being first since inception was hosted in Kisumu City by the Nyanza Professionals’ Forum (NPF), in collaboration with the six county governments of the Nyanza Region (Homa Bay, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Nyamira, and Siaya), the National Government, relevant National Government Agencies like the Kenya Investment Authority, and local and national private sector corporations, including private sector associations and
organizations (PSOs).
The event concluded with a call for collaboration to unlock the region’s untapped potential.
Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, presided over the closing ceremony.
In his address, he reiterated the national government’s commitment to supporting investment initiatives in Nyanza, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving inclusive growth.
“The discussions, commitments, and collaborations forged during this conference mark the beginning of transformative progress for Nyanza,” Nyong’o said.
The governor further affirmed his dedication to ensuring that the investment opportunities translate into meaningful development for the people, shaping a prosperous and resilient future for the region.
The conference also showcased Kisumu County’s strategic position as a hub for trade and investment, with its proximity to Lake Victoria and its growing infrastructure making it an attractive destination for investors.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the commitments made during the event would lead to job creation, improved livelihoods, and enhanced economic activity across Nyanza.
Kisumu County’s leadership has now vowed to maintain momentum by implementing actionable strategies and fostering an enabling environment for investors.
The Nyanza International Investment Conference has set the stage for a new era of economic growth, with Kisumu County at the forefront of this transformative journey.
