Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has taken on his X page to express his intention to holding a meeting in order to persuade the Maa counties Governors of Samburu, Kajiado and Narok to construct breeding houses for youths. Ledama has also explained that higher population numbers will garner more respect for the Maasai communities.

The Senator decried of sparse population in the Maa community, that needs revitalization.

“Next year Inshallah I will persuade three Governors from Narok, Kajiado and Samburu to construct breeding houses for our Maasai youth. We need numbers. That is the only way we will be respected in the future. Otherwise we will be displayed in museums,” said the Senator.

Netizens have however swarmed the comment section with different reactions. One asked “How will you call the project? Project kuzalisha?

Terry Hillary also went on to ask whether the project’s target is to garner respect or is to grow Olekina politically.

“You need numbers to be respected or you need numbers to use for your selfish political gains?” Asked Hillary.

Sanko Ntini  has however condemned Ledama’s idea of tribal cards, stating that its time to address prosperity and developmental progress rather than tribalism.

Ledama’s post still remains unclear whether it is targeting to get numbers for the Maasai counties to scale up in the one man one shilling resource distribution that has notably seen densely populated counties get more funds allocation compared to the Maa counties that are sparsely populated.
