Gabriel Okola alias General Gabriel Okola has finally graduated from Moi University with Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Mathematics and Physics option) after spending 5 years in the institution.
While speaking to The Nyanza Review shortly after the conferment, Okola expressed his joy, having accomplished such great mile, something he attributed and extended to his family, who entrusted on his capabilities.
“Me graduating today is not only my own achievement but also that of my family members who entirely pegged their hope on me,” Okola admitted.
Okola said that the journey has not been pleasant, concerning his humble background. It was a journey marred by catastrophe.
“It has been a very long journey of ups and downs having been born and raised in a very humble background. All was not easy for me in terms of school fee and sustenance,” said Okola.
The graduate is now happy and ready to join the job market. Okola has been working as a teacher at Moi University Secondary School where he was absorbed in 2023 after the expiry of his teaching practice.
”As a new graduate in town, I’m very happy and excited to cross over into the job market,” he happily asserted.
Okola has been making headlines at defending Moi University during its falling times, due to financial crisis.
The educator recommended the institution, however the challenges it has faced, claiming that it is still the best university he has ever attended.
“I know there are a number of challenges Moi University has passed through which of course is common to several public universities in Kenya today and it’s unfortunate that Moi is not exceptional. However, Moi University still stands to be the foundation of knowledge and the peak of academic excellence,” he affirmed.

In his defence, Okola revealed how skillful the institution has imparted him, with assurance that he will always choose Moi University.
“Through Moi University, I have learnt a lot of things, acquired new skills and of course gathered numerous experiences. Despite the challenges I passed in Moi University, I still regard it as one of the best universities in Kenya and even in my second life I will still choose Moi University,” assured the General.
Okola is aspiring to vie for Kachieng’ Ward, in Nyatike Constituency in Migori County, come 2027.
