In an effort to promote sports development in the country,  Principal Secretary in the State Department of Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, through his foundation, has toured Homabay county.

The foundation was represented by its Sports Empowerment Program Coordinator, Mr. Michael Odari who met various clubs in Suba North, including Usare FC and Gifted Ladies FC yesterday.

Mr. Odari stressed the need to engage the youth in sports related activities in order to shy them away from indulging in other uncalled for behaviours.

He also emphasized on the vision of Dr. Raymond Omollo to strengthen Luoland to be ahead of other regions in terms of development.‏

With the goal of inspiring young athletes and fostering a vibrant sports culture, the Foundation provided essential resources such as football jerseys and balls to fuel the players’ passion and keep their dreams alive both on and off the field.

The foundation was warmly received by the Luo council of elders who notably treasured the good gestures.

Led by their Deputy chair, Mr. Makamu Mugambi, the elders urged the youths to embrace the initiative and consider building their talents, rather than hovering around doing unnecessary activities.

They said that assuring the youth support through empowering their sports is a brave move to strangle drug and substance abuse that is up surging among them.

The sentiments by the deputy chair were echoed by the Organizing Secretary of the council, Mr. Salman Gowa who said that the youths need to be engaged in productive activities to bar them from meddling around.

Mr. Peter Oburu, the chairperson of the Luoland Sports Festival, asserted that the contribution by the PS is a rare gesture, underlining that a few leaders in such roles look back and fail to support the youth.

He said that many leaders have abandoned their people, particularly the youth, once their dream to get leadership roles matures.

This empowerment program by Raymond Omollo Foundation goes beyond providing sporting equipment to establishing an investment in the dreams and talents of our young generation.
