Billy Mwangi and 3 others have been released today after going missing for close to two weeks since December 21, 2024 giving a ray of hope amid nationwide concerns of disappearances.

Their release coincides with activism to end abductions including a planned public protest in Nairobi’s CBD under the banner EndAbductionsKE hashtag that has been on the public domain.

The four abductees Billy Mwangi, Bernard Kavuli, Peter Muteti and Ronny Kiplangat have been released after a long public outcry over the high number of abductions and disappearances of activists and youths who are against the current administration.

“The boy is back physically intact,” Gerald Mwangi , Billy’s dad confirmed.

Reports of the recent developments confirm that Peter is currently with his family, quite disoriented and unable to talk and give interviews at the moment.

Mwangi is reported to have returned to his father’s home in Embu’s Majengo estate, while Muteti rejoined his family in Nairobi.

Mary Kavuli a relative to Bernard Kavuli also confirmed through facebook that the brother is safe and doing well.

“Good morning good people, my brother is safe and sound, we thank God for his protection, thank you friends for your support and prayers,” Kivuli said.

On the December 30, 2024 an end abduction match coupled with arrests was seen in major parts of the country with Nairobi leading the match, calling out names of missing persons and demanding their release, with placards written ‘STOP ABDUCTIONS ‘

Scenes of youths were sighted chanting “we are peaceful” at the scene of police on standby and those on the horses with placards featuring popular silhouettes made by missing visual artist Kibet Bull while chanting and singing in solidarity for an end to enforced disappearances on the country.
