Kakamega deputy governor Ayub Savula has shutdown the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, over his political alignment and arrangement with the Mulembe Nation.
While addressing the press, Savula said the people of Western have elected leaders, including the Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, to speak and unite the people of Mulembe.
“As a region we have people who can speak on behalf of the community, including elected leaders, Musalia and Wetang’ula. We also have youthful Luhya leaders, who can champion for our rights and political discourse. Hatuwezi mpangwa na mtu amekuwa impeached!” Savula said.
Savula sentiments were further echoed by Vihiga deputy governor Wilberforce Kitiezo, said the community cannot be guided by someone who failed to deliver as the deputy president.
The two urged leaders from the region applauding Gachagua to take caution and focus on building the community where they are being leading.
Gachagua in his interview with Luhya stations had said he will work closely with former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala, who was ousted from the position by UDA, and the leadership given to Hassan Omar.
He further urged the community to take advantage of their population, and stop awaiting for endorsement from the AUC candidate Raila Odinga, as the region has more votes than the Nyanza region, giving them an upper advantage in the national politics.
Gachagua called on Western leaders not to buy the promises his former boss President William Ruto is giving them, as he is known to manipulate and betray voters. He urged leaders to focus on uniting the region to have a political say.
Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya has been on tabs, supporting the sentiments of Rigathi, calling out the purported Mulembe leaders, Musalia Mudavadi and and Moses Wetang’ula, for failing to champion the rights of the region, as the region has remained poor.
